Hints to make your Tag Sale Experience
Even Better!
- First come, First served!
When the person in front of you picks up the item you wanted, it is now theirs.
- The Early Bird gets in first.
Numbers are passed out starting at one hour before the sale starts.
The lowest number gets in first. When the house is small, the number allowed
inside at one time is commonly limited to prevent crowding and unsafe conditions.
Being #26 when only 25 are allowed inside could mean a 15 minute wait. You
do get to watch the items you wanted to buy as they are carried out by other
customers.
- Expect Firm prices, First day first few
hours. Don't expect a lower price on anything when there
are people outside waiting. Frequently, the owners will not wish to sell at
prices lower than those marked. Many antique dealers will be found in line,
as the prices are very attractive, even when buying for resale.
- Last day prices are less on most, if
not all items. Most prices will be 50% off on the last
day of the sale. If the 50% off is not available on an item it will be clearly
marked as to the current discount price. NOTE: this only applies
if the item is still there on the last day, frequently this will NOT be the
case.
- If you think a lower price is reasonable,
make a written offer. Written
offers on items are gladly accepted, contact the cashier for information as
to what you need to do. Remember, if what you bid on sells at the current
price before the sale ends, your bid is not going to be accepted.
